WELCOME TO THE PORTLAND METRO RESERVE OFFICER'S FOUNDATION
Reserve officers are civic minded community members that volunteer as sworn police officers without any compensation. Each reserve officer is committed and dedicated to the principles of community policing and strive to provide quality, professional law enforcement services to the Police Bureau and to the citizens of Portland.
It takes a highly skilled and dedicated person to give back to their community in this way. Reserve officers undergo the same testing and background process as paid officers. They attend a reserve police academy, graduate as fully sworn police officers, and carry firearms in the performance of their duties.
Police Reserve officers come from diverse backgrounds and work in every neighborhood to improve the livability of Portland and risk their own safety and well-being to protect their fellow citizens.
The Portland Metro Reserve Officer's Foundation raises money to support these citizen volunteers by reimbursing them for needed equipment, meals, parking, training, recognition & awards, and other costs associated with providing free police services to the City of Portland. Read more..
